This is one my favorite methods of prompting: the Q&A. The one question at a time, forces the human to use AI collaboratively, as a thought partner, and to avoid just taking what AI tells you to do. It forces the human to:
- articulate priorities in every step and context
- consider and revisit tradeoffs
- test emotional reality after the "decision excitement" wears off
The core value of this style of prompt is the transition from:
"I have feelings and ideas and possible biases" to "I understand the real decision underneath the surface decision."
By that point, most people are already emotionally orientated toward something, even if they haven't consciously admitted it yet.
The final question is not: "Choose now." It is intended to: "Pressure-test the reality of the direction you are leaning toward."
